Cedric Valera (aka “Viajero”) is an avid traveler with great stories to share in his blog, Viajero.  He also shares his Instagram pic of Kalanggaman Island, a small secret hideaway  between Cebu and Leyte.  It is a two hectare island with two sandbars that stretch out into the sea, which then disappear during high tide.

The island belongs to the town of Palompon, Leyte, and the local government has worked hard to keep it in its pristine and natural state.  Therefore, there are no fancy hotels and restaurants.  Instead you will eat in makeshift picnic tables under the tree, and sleep in tents or cottages.  But you can get the freshest fish from the fishermen who come to rest in the island before moving on with their journey.
